Tulips

watercolor 21" x 21"

My birthday was last week and one of my students bought me a bouquet of pink tulips, so I thought I better do a painting of them. My Friday class is actually going to do a paint off with these same tulips.
I decided I needed a big painting for my kitchen so I am going to keep this one for myself. It will have an olive green mat that is v-grooved and then it will be framed in black. I just redid my kitchen with sage green and black so I was trying to paint it to fit my decor. Don't we just hate it when customers come up to us at art shows with fabric samples trying to match their sofas??? I have become one of them.

Saturday's Workshop

watercolor 7 x 11

Saturday I taught a tree workshop at the Gallery in Chesterton, IN. I showed them how to paint various trees in the morning and then in the afternoon, we painted this quick little painting. This way they were able to add some of the trees to the composition that they painted.

Door

watercolor 18 x 24 ~ SOLD

This was a demo that I did for one of my classes today. I was trying to paint like Milind and David and paint loose and free. It is looser than I would normally paint it. I would have painted most of the bricks. lol. Also trying to play with colors.

Thinking Spring

watercolor 18 x 24

Thought I would put something on here so you wouldn't think I dropped off the earth.
Glad that spring is here...pretty soon the flowers will follow.
I have been up at the hospital for over 2 weeks with my mom. I get too tired to paint after that. Hopefully soon. I have an idea for my next one...watch and see.

Mini Demo

5" x 7" watercolor

Been tied up here. My mom fell and is in the hospital with a broken hip and pneumonia. She needs to get a hip replacement. She is 88 years old. Been spending time at the hospital with her. Classes also began so they are keeping me busy, too.
In these first few weeks back we are doing little 5" x 7" paintings, just to get back into the swing of things...This was one of the quick demos that I did.
Today I was showing them how to make really dark backgrounds for florals and still lifes and how to paint a quick rose with just a few brush strokes. Next week one of my classes will be having a paint off. This should be interesting.

Classes Started Today

watercolor 5" x 7"

Classes started up today and it was good to have my students back in the studio. Now to get back on my old schedule. I did like working through the nights but I guess I will have to change that for a while.
This is a quick little demo that I did for the afternoon class. I am having all of my students do little 5" x 7" paintings to get back into the swing of things. I am sure that they did not paint much during the winter break.

Been Busy

watercolors

Been wondering what I have been dong lately? I have been getting ready to hang a new show so I have been busy framing, making title cards and the coming up with the infamous price list. There is so much to do besides creating the Art Work.
Tonight I was matting all of those paintings that I have been posting lately. They sure add up. Fortunately, I have a very reasonable framer. Let me know if you are interested. he ships stuff out.
We also finished the kitchen. It is a pretty sage color. Don't ever decide to take vinyl wallpaper off!!
Studio classes resume this Wednesday. Are you signed up for the spring semester??
