Little Calumet River

watercolor
14" x 21"
Landscape

With the last snow fall that we had, I went out and took a few photos.  This is a local river and I was able to catch it at sunset.  Ok...I added the sunset.  lol.  Tomorrow is spring and it is sooooooooo cold here in Indiana.  The wind chill makes it even colder.  Last year at this time it was 80 degrees.  This is the coldest that we have had it in 20 years.  go figure.  Stay warm.

We were doing interiors in my class today.  I gave this little demo.  This one is almost more of a still life...I like doing windows.  In fact,  I have 17 in my sun room that I will be doing soon for spring.  lol. I have extra bottles of Windex.

Snow Day

watercolor
14" x 16"
landscape

This was the what I saw when I looked out my sunroom sliding door the other day.  We had about 8" of snow and it was soooooooo pretty.  That was probably more than what we got all winter season so far.  Believe it or not, I had to cancel my first class of this semester.  It worked out ok.... I was able to paint this painting.  I also made 2 necklaces and 2 bracelets.

This is all negatively painted (in a positive way)..  No white paint was used nor was there any masking fluid.  Enjoy, stay warm and hurry up spring.

Splashes of Chicago VI-Mill Shapes

watercolor
cityscape

This is a real common scene for all of us here in Northwest Indiana.  This is what you see on the way up to Chicago.

We had a lot of snow a few days ago and I have been busy painting snow scenes.  Will post those soon.

Into the Light...

watercolor
7" x 11"
landscape

It was a lovely day in Indiana today.  On the way to dinner the sun was so bright as it was beginning to set.  This made for some lovely shadows.  Since I always carry a camera in my purse I was able to get some good photos to use for reference for future paintings.

Spring is just around the corner...soon I will be painting flowers :)  and planting them, too.
