Up On the Still

watercolor 14 x 21

This is a watercolor that I did Monday night. I was listening to James Taylor in concert and he was singing "up on the roof" so I thought I would borrow a few of the words for this title. lol.

The inspiration for this painting came when I went to a garden walk 2 weeks ago. I did this painting with just one brush...a mop. I only used a small brush to sign my name. It was a lot of fun challenging myself to do this. I will try the one brush challenge again.

  1. I have been seen your watercolors about flowers since days ago. I like them and after listening to Fonseca " Te mando flores ", I decided that I need to paint one.MPDR.

  2. Kathy, I am doubly impressed!! Firstly, that you did the painting in one night, and secondly, that you did it all with a mop. WOW!!!

  3. Hi Julian...my dear friend thanks for your gracious comments. I am not familiar with that song ... MPDR Glad you like my DPW painting. I will post that next. I do like those challenges. They make me think...that hurts MPDR. I wanted to see if I could get wc to look like it was pencil on the sketchbook.

I have tried a few times to leave comments on your blog, but then I either get a dating service or some other advertisement. Tim doesn't like when I date. MPDR.

Send me your email (I think I used to have it??) and then I can at least let you know how much I like your work. Ktr1976@aol.com

  4. Catherine...glad you like the painting, too. 99% of my paintings are done in one sitting. If I have to continue one the next day, it seems like you loose that feeling that you had when you began. I do stop for cookie breaks :)

The one mop was fun. I need to do more of that.

  6. Thanks Liana...it was actually a hot day when I saw these geraniums on a window sill. lol. The shutters were a bright cobalt blue but I thought the white would look better. I didn't want to take away from the flowers. Thanks for your comment.
