This painting was accepted into the DAVe show in Griffith, Indiana.  The theme of the show is....ICE - In Case of an Emergency.  I believe the show will hang into January.

When I was at student at the American Academy of Art in Chicago way back in 1969, 70 and 71,  I studied watercolor with Irving Shapiro aws (I had the privilege to study with him for 1-1/2 years).  He was not only a fantastic artist and teacher, but also a special friend.  He is one of my most admired people. He even asked me to join the faculty at the Academy in 1974 at the age of 23.

About 20 years ago he passed away in his 60's.  Way too young.  I haven't spoke with Mrs. Shapiro since his funeral. Out of the blue I got a message on FB from his daughter. Mrs. Shapiro-Weiss had some wc paper that was Mr. Shapiro's and she wanted me to have it.  How awesome was that !!  So we went up to the north side of Chicago to meet with her.  She did not change at all.  Still so sweet.  It was such a great gift and I feel really blest.  This is the first painting that I did on the 300# rough Arches paper.  The reference photo I took right around the corner from her home.

Thanks so much for this perfect gift.

After one of the storms that we had this summer, we had a large branch fall onto our roof...this young man can and not only removed it, but he also shaped up the other trees and took one out.

I am so far behind in posting all of my paintings.  I have been really busy with my classes and workshops.  Then I was getting ready for 3 shows.  

The opening of the Industry show at the South Shore Arts in Crown Point, Indiana went really well last month.  The show will run through the middle of Jan.  Hope you get a chance to check it out.  Great time to do your Christmas Shopping :))                                            Shop Local !!

Tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 21 is the artist reception of my show, along with photographer-Mathew Kaplan.  It is being held at South Shore Arts in Crown Point, Indiana, 123 North Main Street.  (across from the new library) 5:30 till 8 pm.  Come see the Industry of the Region depicted in watercolor and photography.  Meet the artists and have some light refreshments.  Looking forward to seeing you there.

We used ti see so many of  these in downtown Hammond, Indiana.  But like so many things, they are a thing of the past. We still have many trains is this area...Just not too many watch towers.

This is one of my two entries that was accepted into the Chesterton Art Comp Juried Bi-Annual show, Chesterton, IN

It also won an award.    This is a typical scene in the area where I live.  I live close to Lake Michigan here in Indiana.

This is a watercolor of a tree that is my neighbors.  Early in the Spring the blossoms were so pretty.  Every morning I would wake up to this lovely scene of blossoms and then when the fruit came in....they, too, were so lovely.  I wonder how they tasted.  Jodi did make me some jelly from her cherry trees.  

I just entered this into a show.  Hope it gets in....

Come to my studio tomorrow, Aug. 13.  I am having a BIG sale on art, art supplies, books, rubber stamps, furniture, misc.

Come 7 till 10 pm.  This will be my last day there so come for the sale and for my moving on party.
