Another Fall Barn

watercolor
12" x 20"
landscape

This is a typical scene in Indiana as the sun is beginning to set.  I painted this piece with Paul Jackson's new watercolors.  They are really neat paints,  Nice and intense and the colors are not washed out.  A little bit of this pigment goes a long way.  Beautiful colors.

Check out master watercolor, Paul Jackson and you will be glad that you did.  Thanks Paul for all you do for so many of us.  You are a great inspiration.  k

Bridge View

watercolor
14" x 21"
landscape

This is a scene in Chesterton, Indiana.  Every time I pass by here I always say I want to paint that.  So while I was driving and steering with the left hand I was shooting some photos with the right hand.  Stay warm.....

Ol' Griffith Depot

watercolor 14" x 21"
landscape

Two other girlfriends and I started this Urban Sketchers Midwest group.  One week we met and it rained so we sketched inside the local restaurant.  This past Monday we were to meet again.  I was the only one who showed up.  It was raining again.  So I just sat in my car and did a sketch of this little scene.  It was such a peaceful afternoon even though it was cold and rainy.  Nothing like XM radio and rain.

This is the painting I created in the studio.  More of this location to come.  If you listen hard enough, you can hear the train coming...and you can hear the rain.  Enjoy!!

West Beach-Indiana National Lakeshore

 watercolor 10" x 14"
 watercolor

Well this is a surprise.  I came to post a new photo only to find the whole format to doing so is totally different.  I hope this will turn out.  Why fix something when it is not broken.  It is hard to teach this old gal new tricks.

This is one of our dune areas.  We are so fortunate to have these dunes along Lake Michigan.  They are forever changing.  Great paradise for any artist.

No Weddings Today-Deep River Park, Indiana

watercolor
14" x 21"
landscape

This is a painting that I did last month and I am finally getting to posting it. It is a local park area where the water mill is at (a previous post). It is a lovely gazebo and many weddings are performed here and many brides just come to this area to have photos taken. There is a lovely river here, too. It's a great place for picnics. I plan to bring a class here to do plein air painting. Come on to Indiana...there is so much to see.

Been doing local scenes since these are near and dear to me. This is about a mile away and it is a concrete plant/company. I thought they created a lot of interesting shapes...welcome to Indiana!!

"Industry: Power"

watercolor
14" x 21"
landscape

This is what I see when I head up to Chicago on the Toll Road. There is so much industry in the area in which I live. This is attributed to the fact that I live so close to Lake Michigan. With this in mind, I thought I would do some industry paintings. Hope you enjoy them. If you live in the "Region" you will know these areas.

Wood's Mill @ Deep River Park

watercolor
14" x 21"
Landscape

The challenge for the Daily Paintworks this week was to paint something with wheels. I thought of the watermill in a neighboring town. We needed to show motion. I don't know if this wheel even works anymore for producing grain. But, this is really a neat park and I wanted to share it with you. Keep staying warm...it is almost February!!

Winter #2 - 2012

watercolor
12" x 22"

It is winter in Indiana. Friday night we had 9" of snow and on Sunday evening we had a thunderstorm....only in Indiana. Well the snow is all gone and maybe that is a good thing. I am sure that it will come back.

This is just one of the local barns in our area and then I kinda made up the rest of the composition . I thought winter would be a good season to paint it in. Enjoy!!
