watercolor
This is a scene you are very likely to see driving in southern Indiana. They are becoming so popular these days. They are wind turbines to generate power. I remember the first time that I saw them I thought they looked so weird. Now they are common place. These turbines are really BIG!! Amazing!

"Heaven's Gate-Waiting to Get In"
watercolor 14 x 21
This painting is dedicated to my student and friend, Fran Novosel. She just told me the other day that she has acute leukemia and that the doctors say she has 6 months to live. She has been through so much already. I do believe in miracles and I ask for your prayers. Thank you!
I want to thank everyone who is also on facebook who sent Birthday wishes. I had over 275 of them. It was amazing and they blew me away. It really made my day and eased me into pushing to another decade. lol.

Daily Paintworks Auction for the Japanese Disaster Relief
watercolor 14 x 21 SOLD
The Daily Paintworks has a weekly challenge for us every Saturday. This week's challenge was to be a part in an Art Auction to help in the relief and aid in rebuilding Japan.
There are many lovely and exciting works of art that many artists have donated to this cause. This is the painting I decided to put into the auction. Our theme was simply "home" and to me...Chicago is part of my home.
Please take some time to view the other paintings. Perhaps there is one that you would like to bid on. And maybe this one would be the one that you would like to see sent to your home?

"Dune's Thaw" workshop March 12
watercolor 14 x 21
I am teaching a dune's workshop this Saturday at the Chesterton Art Center in Chesterton, Indiana. There are still a few more openings so you can call to get into this class. I think you would enjoy it and I promise that it will NOT snow...well, I am hoping. You never know with those lake effects.
Hope to see you on Saturday!!

Plein Air-Winter
watercolor 11 x 7
Today I thought I would try painting plein air. I felt since we were blest with one more snow fall that I would take advantage and try painting on location. This was my first attempt trying this in the winter. It was a blast. Fortunately, it was 33 degrees so it was not bad out and I dress accordingly. I only wished I had a hair dryer to get the paint to dry faster.
Then I was able to go out shooting for some more reference material for future paintings. You will have to come back to see what will be new on the easel. It was a great day.

One Stroke Challenge
watercolor 5 x 7
This week's challenge was to do a painting (any subject and size) and each stroke had to be another color. It seems like a good idea for oil painters. So I thought I would try it in watercolor. These are my attempts.
Been on vacation for the past week. It was a nice time to stay out of the studio and relax. Went out shooting and got some new subject matter.
My regular studio classes begin next week. Call if you are interested in signing up.
