This was a painting from a photo I took from my first trip to Chicago during the Covid lock down.  I have been going into the city since 1969 when I started art school at the @American Academy of Art.   But this time was so different....there were only a hand full of people and just a few cars.  Kinda eerie.  It was a perfect opportunity to take photos.  Watch for more Chicago paintings to come.  I have been up there 3 times and I have new paintings to represent these trips...I am just behind on posting them....secret....I would rather be painting...than posting.

Waiting to Go Out

This was a scene during the lock down on Lake Michigan...
I am not sure why they would not let any boats out on the lake.  But they are out now.  

Went up to the city ...as we call it...Chicago.  It was a great day to be up there yesterday...Things are coming back to a kinda normal...but it was strange to see windows boarded up from the protests of a few weeks ago.  So sad.

Spring!  Summer!!  Don't you just love this time of year?  It's so good to be outdoors under the sun.  Even with the virus still lingering on, it is so refreshing to be able to be out and about.  It is good to see friends again.  Just be save and be smart.   Wear your masks and social distance.

I am experimenting with oil paints and loving it.  It is so much fun...only part I do not like is that it takes so long to dry.  But I will be painting more of them.

During this lock down time, I have been cleaning out supplies and other STUFF.  I found these oils I bought a long time ago.  Was surprised to see that they were still good.  So I thought let's give it a try.  I had a lot of fun and will be doing more.

During the lockdown, we headed up to the city to see what was happening...We actually went up there 3 times during this pandemic.  The first time there were hardly any people on the streets and there were only a handful of cars.  It was the perfect time to go out and take photos of the city....

Gazing at My Flowers

Well I think my flowers are all planted now...unless I see some that are crying out to me to take them home.  Now the work begins...the weeding, watering and feeding...the best part...sitting and watching them grow.

Today I was blest to see a bird on one of my flowers and yesterday a beautiful butterfly.  They appreciated what I have planted.  That will be one of my new paintings.

I am still behind in posting my new paintings.  This one was painted on March 22....I painted so much during these covid days.  It sure helped keep me in a good frame of mine despite all that was going on.  I hope you all stayed well.  Let's all hope we do not get another wave of the terrible virus.
