Demos: Hoot Convention

watercolor 7 x 10 / matted 11 x 14

This past week I was at the HOOT convention in Columbus, Ohio. I was with my framer and his team. At his booth these were two of the designs that I did as demos to teach how to do watercolor. I think I painted about 14 total. It was a challenge for me since I painted most of them upside down so that they could see what I was painting, then I was working on a board that I do not use to paint on, and I was using paints that I do not normally use. So I will say, it was a real challenge to me. But I did learn a lot.

So that is why I have not been on my blog for the past week. I finally put all of my supplies away so now I am ready to hit the studio. I'm back :)

Kathy,
You keep doing so many things all the time. What is this HOOT convention? We dont have such things out here, whatever it may be. :(
The first painting looks like a leaf falling from the heavens. Great feel.. The spontaneity in the second one gives it a very fresh feel.

Hi Prabal,
Hoot Convention was a decorative painter's convention. These are mostly ladies who paint with acrylics on wood. But throughout the week they had all kinds of classes for them to take. Then they had this big hall with exhibitors selling their products. I was there with my framer and I did all of these little paintings. Now I want to get back to my own painting. Thanks for your comments...they are special.
