NYC Gal Visits Chicago

watercolor 10 x 12

This week for the challenge we had a photo of this woman from New York City who had blond hair. She seemed to be sitting by a water fountain and she was checking her phone or ipod. We were able to do what ever we wanted with it...well, I made my gal have brown hair and she was sitting in front of Buckingham Fountain. Instead of the phone, I gave her a sketchbook and some pigeons to draw. I did this because it reminded me of the early 70's when I went to the American Academy of Art in Chgo. Funny, when my students saw it yesterday they said it looked like me. lol. Notice I gave her bell bottom jeans.

Three Chefs Are Better Than One

watercolor 21 x 14

I saw these three chefs at Briar Ridge Country Club preparing for a wine tasting festival. I was the featured artist...but I really think the appetizers that they prepared were the real pieces of art. I learned alot that day.

Happy Easter My Friends!!

watercolor 18 x 24

Just a loose watercolor done from a live Easter Lily on a different kind of paper than what I normally use. It gives a different effect.

May your day be a blessed one!!

Demo at the Indiana Visitor's Center

watercolor 14 x 21

Today I did this painting at the Indiana Visitor's Center in Hammond, Indiana. It is such a lovely place. I do not stand and paint, and I do not work on an easel...but I did it today and the painting was completed in less than an hour. Do you know the name of this flower?

"Winter Reflections II"

watercolor 14 x 21 Working with photos that I shot in February, I completed this snow scene. Glad we finally have some spring weather. We'll need to look at these snow scenes in July and August to cool off. Enjoy!

Clothes Left Hanging

watercolor 14 x 21
Another title for this painting could be..."Frozen Stiff." There is alot of negative painting in this piece of work. It was fun to do, and I think I will be having the students do some negative painting, too. I will have to think about that one.

Workshops!!

This Saturday April 9, I will be conducting a watercolor workshop at the Chesterton Art Center in Chesterton, Indiana. We will be painting the lovely-colorful trumpet flower. This will be a 1/2 sheet painting. Still a few space left so either e-mail me at: KTR1976@aol.com or call me.

On Friday April 15, come to the senior center in Griffith and relax after finishing up your taxes for some cherry pie. We will be painting a delicious cherry pie on 1/4 sheet of wc paper. This is an all inclusive class from 1-4. You just come and everything is supplied. Email or call me to get into this class or for more information.

Hope to see you there.

"Winter's River Bank"

watercolor I did these last snow scenes a few weeks ago. I just never got to posting them on my blog. I have been posting them on Face Book. Thought I would catch up now....as I get ready for shows that are coming up. Remember the painting that I did of the tulips that I dedicated to my friend/student, Fran Novosel? Well she just passed away two days ago. They said she had about 6 more months to live, well it was only a month. I went and made note cards of that painting and I got them today. Guess she won't need them now. I wanted to surprise her with them. Also sold my painting on the Japanese challenge that is on the dailypaintworks site. It was interesting that the gal lives in Kentucky where I have my signature status with the Kentucky watercolor society. Small world...but I wouldn't want to paint it. Stay well my friends.

"Maple Syrup on Tap"

watercolor 14 x 21 At the end of winter there is a time here where they tap into the trees and collect this maple syrup. There is a lot of work involved just to get a cup of syrup. Enjoy!!
