The Bean-Chicago

watercolor 14 x 21

Now if you haven't been to Chicago for awhile, you have not seen this new piece of sculpture. It is at Millennium Park (that's kinda new, too). The title for this piece was originally the "Cloud Gate." It is over 100 tons and it has a mirror surface. Something really neat to see. It is big. So no, I am not spilling the beans or losing them. I am just painting them.

If you look hard and long enough Prabal, you can see yourself...lol.
It was fun to do. I didn't know if I could pull it off or not. I think it works. lol. Glad you like it. Thanks for your comments.

Yep, it's all about painting "valhues". Good job, Kathy. The bean must be wonderful to see in person!

The swirl of colours is metaphorically the churn of the city-life in busy Chicago - love the colours and the sheen on the bean!

It's a very different painting and very interesting to see how you managed the shapes of buildings and its reflection. Original and great watercolor, I'm very sad I coudn't make it better.

@ David...glad you came to visit...I am going to tell my students that today about the "Valhues" Come to Chicago and see it..It is awesome. There is sooooooooo much to see in the city. Hopeing to go up this Sunday to shoot more photos.

@ Roopika...yes, Chicago is very busy. I remember my first day going to Art School there. I thought the people were going to walk right over me. I couldn't believe how fast they all move. I am glad you like the painting. I didn't know if I would pull that mirror look off or not. It's all about the val-hues.

Julian...I was waiting for you to say that I am full of beans and now they are finally coming out. MPDR Actually photos that I have had people in them. I didn't know if I could pull that off. I thought if I got it to look kinda mirror looking I would be happy. The people look cool in the mirror, but I always say....when in doubt, leave it out. That is why I did not paint you into the painting. MPDR
