Art Institute of Chicago

watercolor 14 x 21

Today we are back at the Art Institute of Chicago. Not all Lions are at the Zoo. This place always has people standing around or sitting and talking on these steps. I, too, have spent time on them. But behind those doors are the works of the great Masters. Come on in and spend the afternoon.

Hi Kathy without any doubt it's an usual scene with people, buildings and sun wich are inviting us to walk around. I think with this watercolor you are intersted in showing some customary thing of Chicago's life and you got it.

What lovely painting, Kathy. It is beautifully executed. I love particularly the feel of the time of day.

Hi Julian, Yes, this place is so inviting. People even come to these steps to eat their lunch. My first day to go to art school (back in 1969), the bus dropped me off infront of this building. I thought the lion was going to eat me. I went to the American Academy of Art a few blocks away. I have 2 more ideas for paintings, then I will do some of the boats in Lake Michigan. Keep coming back...you always do :) :)
